10 Songs Meme--Arashi style!

I stole this from...just about everywhere, I think.

Ten Songs

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.

Arashi! No particular pairing though there's some Ohmiya and Aiba/Jun in there.

2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.

Done! I've included uploads for each song. The first link (song title) is YSI and the second (artist name) is a MediaFire link.

3. Write a drabble related to the first ten songs to play. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!

Also done--damn, that was hard. I probably cheated by writing out the list of songs because it gave me some time to think as I set up JUST those ten songs on a playlist. But stopping when the music did? ;__; Does it count as a cheat if I finish the sentence?

1: Missing You, John Waite

Out of all of them, Nino is the one who is in Barstow the longest. He's among the last to leave, too. Kase, to whom he'd grown closest, had left nearly two weeks earlier. He's lonely, the last few weeks of shooting and he can't use the old 'maybe they'll let me go home for a few days' as comfort at night.

The plane ride is long but, when he gets off, one of the first things he sees is a life-sized cut-out of himself. Nobody says 'I missed you' but from the slapping, insults, and hugging that goes on, it's pretty obvious.

2: Step and Go, Arashi

They're constantly on the move when touring. Aiba is not the only one who forgets which city they're in on any given day. They get fed up with seeing each other, with eating the catered food, with the songs. They're sick of dancing, sick of the vans, and sick of getting lost backstage.

"Isn't this supposed to be a little fun?" Nino mutters.

Nino has been saying this since their very first tour. At that time, Jun had said 'It's fun while we're on stage'. Now he just leans over and slaps Nino on the back of the head. "Whiner," he says.

Nino kisses the air in his general direction. "I love you too."

"Me too," Aiba says. "Both of you.

Ohno slumps over on to Sho. "I love you," he says, waving to indicate the whole room.

Sho pats him and puts his feet up on Jun's lap. "Shut up," he says.

Jun kisses the air in Sho's direction. "You too," he says.

"Five minutes to get to the van, guys," Manager says, opening the door to the 'green room' at wherever they are.

"Okay." And they shuffle to get up and going.

3: Borrowed Heaven, The Corrs

He knew that it couldn't last forever. Not just the upswing in popularity, but all of it. He was pretty sure that nobody was going to want to see them sing and dance at eighty years old. He loved the fans, was pretty sure the fans loved them, but he was certain that none of them (save their moms) were that die-hard. But he can't bear the thought of them ending. He rubbed his hand over Nino's denim-clad knee and looked around at the others: Sho by the playback monitor, MatsuJun dodging a woman with a make-up sponge, Nino absorbed in his DS, and Aiba…Aiba looking back at him.

"You know, Leader," Aiba said, "you know that on Jupiter there's been a storm going for hundreds of years? Scientists say it won't ever stop."

4: How Can I Not Love You, Joy Enriquez

"I like you," Ohno says.

They can't.

It's just that simple: They can't.

"I like you, Nino," Ohno repeats stubbornly. "Really, really like you." He pauses, his face getting that spacey look that says he's following some strange thought. "I think it might be love. I might love you."

A million reasons, that's why. They start with Johnny's policy on dating and spiral out to Bubka, the fans, and society in general. Then it spirals back in to 'Arashi' and how if they get together and then break up they'll wreck it for everybody, not just themselves.

Plus, they're both guys.

"Nino," says Ohno.

"Reasons are stupid," Nino tells him and hugs him tight. "So are you."

"Oh, good," says Ohno. "I'm glad."

5: Stray Cat Strut, The Stray Cats

Idol stars. Sometimes Jun couldn't get over it, had to let out a stupid grin. They were idol stars. He wasn't naïve—he knew that parts of it really sucked. Travelling all the time and it was impossible to just go somewhere. There were a lot of rules and tons of hard work.

But sometimes, sometimes it was just cool. Jun slipped on his sunglasses, casually tossed his bag over his shoulder; he rounded up his bandmates with look, and sauntered out of the plane. There were screams before they even got out of the waiting area.

6: Devil or Angel, Bobby Vee

Thirty-dollars-a-bottle shampoo shouldn't be vivid, violent purple and come out with a 'shlorp'. "NINO!" Jun shrieked.

When your target audience is teenaged girls, you should not be any more naked than your manager allows. Certainly, you should not be wearing pants that have had the seat cut out of them. "Nino!" Aiba wailed.

If you get five minutes to yourself as an idol star, you should spend them on yourself. "Nino! I can't even see the paper if you sit like that."

It's important to de-stress properly. "Hey, Sho, check it out; my sister is babysitting so I borrowed the kid."

7: Sleepless Beauty: Sacred Beauty Air Mix, Gravitation Soundtrack

Nino is not one to cry on their shoulders. For all of the way that he acts, he's a fiercely private person. He likes to deal with his problems on his own. Even this problem—losing her—he wants to deal with on his own. He won't let Ohno or Aiba or even Sho touch him.

So what can he do? Jun hangs on to the curtain and listens to Nino's hands tremble over the piano and hurts with him.

8: My Girl, Westlife

Every now and again Jun understands exactly why he loves his bandmates so much.

Usually he's drunk out of his gourd but not always.

Sometimes he's on Shounen Club watching them heckle some juniors into dressing up as girls so that they can sing a song to them 'properly'.

9: Anyone Else But You, Michael Cera & Ellen Page

Nobody had ever asked why his best friend was Ninomiya Kazunari.

Sho had found it very strange—he and Nino were so different in so many ways, after all—until Nino had sat him down and explained it.

"Look, it's so strange that it's the only thing that makes sense."

Which didn't make sense but made Sho happy anyhow.

10: Good Night and Go, Imogene Heap

"It's gonna happen one night, MatsuJun," Aiba insisted.

"Then it's gonna be rape," Jun said, looking up from his magazine with a small smile. Honestly happy.

Ohno entered the recording room and gave them a wave. "Who's Aiba-chan raping now?" Nino demanded, glommed on to Ohno's back like a second skin.

"It's gonna happen one night," Aiba called on the run, trying to get to the side of the stage that he was supposed to enter from.

"Keep dreaming," Jun called back as a staffer helped him into the long coat for the first number.

"Could we pay attention to the show?" Sho asked plaintively

"It's gonna happen one night," Aiba giggled.

"I'm Ohno, Ma-kun," Ohno said. "Jun's in the bathroom right now."

"It's gonna happen," Aiba whispered, hot in the dark.

Jun shivered.
