This is why I almost never read Ohmiya fic that is not on my f-list. One of the first that I ever read that wasn't had Jun raping Nino during Ohno's solo. The term 'red rage' was pretty literal because ;alsdkjfk JUN LOVES NINO. Even thinking about it makes me want to scream. I thought 'if that's what the Ohmiya part of the larger fandom is going to do to Nino and Jun's bitchy, brotherly love I want NO PART'. I ranted about it for several many comments in some journal or other. (Either my deleted journal or else in the journal of some poor, dear friend.)

That was a long pause! I actually don't mind anybody liking stories I don't--much like I don't care that there are people who think Arashi sucks in comparison to, say, Kanjani8 or SMAP. I love awful disaster movies with terrible 'science' and exploding head films; it's all a matter of personal taste. And if you don't think 'Arashi' the way you think of Arashi-on-Shukudai/VS.Arashi/whatever then I really so no reason at all to not enjoy whatever you're reading.
I tend to read and write 'actual' Arashi (or as much 'actual' as we get in interviews, backstage stuff, and the like) and part of that is because (unless it is crack or au) I really can't see them any other way. I can see them as younger, as older, as learning to love each other, as learning to let go of each other but I can't see them not loving each other and Arashi. When I think of the sacrifices that they've made for Arashi and, by extention, each other...well, it sort of takes my breath away. And to me the best I can do as I go into the world of RPS (which I found so disturbing before Arashi) is to handle that with care and respect.
Which is rather pretentious of me on some levels, I think, because you're right when you said fanfic is not based on reality. In the end what I write and what I read isn't any more real than anything else out there.
...I'm still mad about Jun-rapes-Nino. There was a fic where Nino BEAT UP TOMA during the Maou filming that drove me batshit. *claws eyes*
Finally, to make this comment even longer, I think one of the things that really got to me with this fic is the fact that there aren't a lot of Ohno/Jun fics out there. There's a lot of work that could be done with Ohno/Jun because they ARE sweet together and that sweetness doesn't have a thing to do with Nino or Ohmiya SK. It makes me sad for the pairing that one of the longest fics for it came from a place of betrayal and neglect and pain and anger rather than from the place where Ohno thinks Jun is a great and caring young man and Jun can't help but being weak vs Leader.
