Repost from 2011 FQFest (part one)

Unexpected work today was unexpected! I love Martha with all of my CSM-loving-heart but I don't want to talk to her at five-thirty in the morning and hear her asking if I can come to work today because the first three cashiers called out.

Why is my answer always 'sure, I can be there in half an hour'?

Anyhow, I have to take a child to the orthodontist but I should be around later today? After cake and ice cream? I shall do my best! For now: repost.


As a note: I wrote this in thirteen hours, with much crying, after ditching between five and seven OTHER half-assed fics that were/were not like this. It's ALWAYS harder than I think it will be to write something for Fest. I cannot say enough 'thank you's to Aeslis, Flange, and Aya for the last-minute beta work and for the handholding. This goes for Luna, too. You guys were my lifeline and it meant--and still does mean--the world to me that you were there for me.
