Oh, man, I don't-- I don't even know where to begin with this post. Because I have so many thoughts, except you kind of said them all way better than I could have. I suspect there will be much repeating of what you've said already. orz
Voice: I love that it's not a drama that will crush your soul, even if it's terribly sad at times. The cases have the potential to just sort of make you want to cry, but the light-hearted tone (without being disrespectful of the stories they're telling! it's kind of marvelous!) and how you actually really LIKE these characters! I mean, I love arrogant bastard characters as much as the next fangirl, but what I really love about Voice is that I want to give each and every character a hug. (And maybe a little more. Seriously, Eita in his emo sleeves, HOW SO ADORABLE?)
It's the same with the balance between mystery versus medical drama, which the show has also balanced out extremely well. Some shows can get really bland if they try to be too many things and not quite achieve any of them, but Voice has sort of mastered being a little bit of everything and doing it well.
Mei-chan no Shitsuji: I love this drama a lot. But between subbing issues (oh, my god, watching the thread at d-addicts was like the best--and most infuriating--soap opera ever) and it being really fluffy without much substance, despite that the actors in this are really good. It's just. I've seen a lot of bullying stories, I've seen a lot of blossoming girls stories, etc. So, no matter how good Nana and Hiro are, they can't make me really connect to that scene of Mei crying in the rain.
(O-okay, well. Maybe a little to Hiro's really understated acting there, where you can tell it pains Rihito to just stand there and not be able to comfort her, but he's hiding it so that she doesn't see, and even the audience has to look really hard. But I'm weak to that sort of thing, so.)
And I'm sort of torn with Mei and the whole love thing--I kind of don't want to be sucked in and yet. That's kind of what you're THERE FOR. The shoujo romance of it all! And part of me sort of wants Kento/Mei because they're so delightfully fiesty with each other, but the thought of not getting Rihito/Mei kind of crushes my soul. He's obviously going to love her and I think Rihito should probably get a lot of hugs. A LOT OF HUGS. Mei would totally do it, if she thought he needed them.
And omfg seriously. Rihito is like what Tendou Souji would have been without the extreme crazypants and if Tendou were going to spend his life serving someone else. I want so many crossovers where they get along like two cats in a sack, seriously.
I-- I'm not even trying to keep all the butlers/girls straight yet. I assume it'll happen if I care enough to pay attention. (I think it's Kato Keisuke in this one, who is the guy from Kiva, not Kato Kazuki who's Daisuke. But I haven't been able to spot him EITHER. I'm wondering if he just hasn't appeared yet, because I spent the whole first episode looking for the Takagi twins only for them to not be in it until the very last minute.)
