A request and some fic.

I...I truly do have the best people ever in my life. A package arrived today and I have to say I cried a little bit. Or, you know, enough to discombobulate my kids. (Mommy, why are you crying? says five-year-old. Mommy is happy! says I. Oh, obviously, says frazzled fourteen-year-old).
I'm in the middle of hosting a New Years party for Allie and her friends so expect e-mails tomorrow but for now...: REQUEST TIME.
Dear Flist and Lurkers That I Speak With Something Regular:
Please send me a picture of yourself. I'm going to make a locked post with my address and I will give it out to those who PM me and ask. But I have a special place for photos now and I want to fill it with you!
ESPECIALLY A CERTAIN SET OF SANTAS, PLEASE.
If you don't want me to have a photo-photo of you I would also accept stick-figures bearing your names (LJ too, plz).
I will even send out SASEs for you, if you want.
Now I've got to go play the New Moon board game with a bunch of twelve-year-old girls. I'm going to lose badly but I am happy about this.
For my own most darling Meg: Reboot Dorkery (as I assume 'stix' meant Star Trek--the lingo, I am not hip with it).
A Night at the Museum
"…and this," said Jim Kirk "is Tendou Souji. Not the first masked rider, not the last, but definitely the best."
"And the most psychologically disturbed," Spock said, reading the data padd next to the holo of Tendou.
"Hey now," Kirk protested.
"ZECT had him tested out the wazoo, Jim," said Bones comfortingly. "He was weird as owl doo-doo but otherwise normal."
"He was the best Rider the world knew. His work with Kabuto revolutionized the planetary defense system!"
"I didn't say it hadn't," Spock said mildly. "I was merely commenting on the data at hand. In fact, I was going to continue on to note that the psychological disturbances—as termed in the official release—indicate that Tendou Souji would have been a passable Vulcan."
"Hey!" said Kirk.
Bones looked at the holo of Kagami Arata. "And you know, I went and volunteered to spend my free time with these two."
For my darling Flange some Aiba and Jun.
Soft Comfort
The snowflakes were big, puffy clusters that floated down from the sky like soft, cold feathers. Aiba breathed in, breathed out, and let them land on his upturned face.
"Idiot," came Jun's voice. "You'll get sick."
He sounded affectionate and so Aiba didn't bother to turn around. "If I do, then I do," he said. He could still hear the edge of tension in his voice so he went back to breathing. He didn't even know what was bothering him, just that he was bothered. He didn't want to take it out on Jun.
"Here," said Jun and Aiba felt a warm cup pressed in to his hands. He expected the bitter, milky taste of coffee and was surprised by the dark sweetness of hot cocoa instead. "The set list for Fukuoka is nearly done," Jun said after a moment. "The encore isn't decided yet—they're usually an energetic crowd so it needs tweaking."
Something about Jun settled him, made the pin-prick feeling all along his spine soothe away. Aiba relaxed, feeling his shoulders ease down as the warmth seeped in.

Date: 2010-01-02 09:24 pm (UTC)The Aiba/Jun fic is so quietly lovely. It's wonderful to see Aiba with more depth than his usual chirpiness because it's there, it's absolutely there, but it's something that needs to be written softly, and this did the job perfectly. ♥
I hope you had a fun time on New Year's~ (Or at least that your house stayed intact, hahaha)
