Nino the fish au

ciirceeRemember the au where Ohno caught a fish and named it Nino? Well, I wrote a little more in that universe just because I felt the need to write something.
Ohno is a little bit lonely out on his island all by himself. He's not sure how the little yellow fish is going to help but he's sure it will. He's also sure that Sho and Jun think he's a little bit crazy for keeping it. Aiba might think he's crazy, too, but at least with Aiba it would have more to do with the fish riding shotgun rather than the fish in general.
Ohno loves his bandmates so much more than he can ever really say.
"I really love those guys," he says to the tiny fish as they leave the airport behind.
The fish stares at him through the plastic of the bag and opens his mouth a few times like he's saying 'me too'.
Ohno's first stop after the airport is a pet store; his fish needs a proper home. A bell lets out a merry jingle when Satoshi opens the door and it makes the puppies in the back start to bark.
"Hey," comes a very absent welcome from the guy behind the counter. The guy is busy with a handheld game, his eyes focused intently on the screen. He's totally not paying attention to Ohno so Ohno feels free to stare a little.
Hullo, thinks Ohno, you're lovely.
The guy snaps the game off and looks at him. "Do you know how distracting it is to be stared at like that?" the guy asks.
"I have a fish," Ohno says and holds up the bag.
The guy stands up and leans forward over the counter to look into the bag at the fish. "Yellow clown goby," he announces.
"Ninomiya," Ohno says, reading the nametag pinned to the guy's chest. Ninomiya is a nice name, he decides. "Nino."
"What?" says the guy.
"That's his name," Ohno says watching Nino watch Nino through the plastic and the water. "Ninomiya."
Nino, the person, stares at him. "You named your fish Ninomiya."
"I named him after you. The two of you are very alike." He is somehow certain of this.
"Right," says person-Ninomiya. There's a smile flirting with the corner of his mouth and Ohno sort of desperately wants to kiss him. Which is odd—Ohno's not normally the type to want something like that off of somebody like Ninomiya.
"He needs a home," Ohno says a little mindlessly "now that he's living with me."
Person-Nino looks at him then goes around the counter. He walks down aisle two and is back a moment later with a plastic fishbowl. "Problem solved."
Ohno looks at fish-Nino. Fish-Nino mouths at him. "He likes simple," Ohno says, "but he's not a cheap date or anything," he tells the person.
Ninomiya smiles at him suddenly and fully. "I know a guy who makes hand blown glass and does his own etching. His name is Toma. Ikuta Toma." And he produces a business card from out of nowhere. "Give him a call and use the plastic one for now. Just for now," he says, directing his words to the bag of sea-water and fish.
When Ohno takes the card their fingers brush and it makes his heart thump hard in his chest.

"So that guy was interesting," he tells the shiba-inu that is the first puppy into his lap. "I think he wanted to hit on me."
A kai-inu butts his head up under his arm and woofs softly.
"Well of course I'd have let him," Nino says, ruffling the puppy's ears. "He was pretty cute." A little chin barks and puts his paws up on Nino's knee and Nino shifts to stroke its muzzle. "He didn't think I was a cheap date," he confides in a little whisper, "that was nice."
Nino IS a cheap date when he wants to be but it's nice to think of somebody looking at him and thinking he's worth more than he is. Especially somebody interesting and hot like the guy with the fish.
The guy whose name he didn't get. "Fuck," Nino tells the puppies.

Nino zoomed past Jun and slapped a hand over Sho's ass. "You snooze, you lose," he called out happily over Sho's shriek.
"I was getting to it!" Jun shouted back at him.
"Getting to this?" Aiba asked darting past on his other side and laying his hand next to Nino's. "Ow, ow, Sho-chan stop hitting me with your fan!"
Ohno drifted by and somehow managed to avoid Nino's helplessly laughing form, Aiba's flailing, and Sho's fan to settle his hand comfortable over the silk-covered curve of Sho's butt. "Soft," he said.
"The hell with this," Jun muttered to himself and he ducked under the cover of the arm Ohno lifted for him.
It WAS soft.
"Rape!" Sho screeched. "Help! Fire! SOMEBODY HELP ME."

And the secret of where fish-Nino's name came from is stellar. While I would never question Ohno's random tendencies, we've seen in the past that his capacity for naming things strays into the realm of bizarre rather quickly. Nino was an oddly normal name for his fish. Now we know why...

Date: 2011-06-02 03:37 pm (UTC)I wondered if I should even have the lust but then I figured 'this is a one-off! It doesn't matter!'. So yes. Total interest. Too bad Nino didn't get his name. They probalby could have boned without all the tension. Of course, that would have screwed them up later..
I should send them back to the petshop. Nino needs to sit with more puppies. And I should bring back Toma. I love him. But mostly: Thank you for the comment, for the delicious pun, and for liking these people (and pets). It made me happy then and it makes me happy now.
